The winter break is always a challenge after the intensity and regularity of the races during the season. It is an important time for reflection on the events of the 2011 calendar and planning for the year ahead. Last season certainly threw up some unexpected events and provided that significant extra challenge of returning to compete following the accident. I feel especially satisfied that I was able to get back to psychological and physical race fitness and achieve several podium finishes.

The winter has seen the maintenance of my fitness programme and I have also indulged in a couple of karting events to keep my hand in. I find it difficult keeping away from motor racing so this is always helpful as part of winter training.

The race calendar for this year includes Oulton Park, Donington, Silverstone, Spa (Belgium), Snetterton, Brands Hatch, Anglesey and one other circuit to be confirmed. Each circuit has its own unique layout and character and, for the driver and the spectators, ensures that a level of excitement is maintained across the season.

2011 marked my first year racing with Lanan Racing. Across the year we built a positive and rewarding relationship and I will be racing with them again in 2012.
