Oulton Park - 10th May 2008 - Round 3
It didn’t start too well as I found out later I picked up a bug which caused me to feel very sick and only managing to do a few laps at a time before coming in to the pits and rushing to the toilets to throw up.
Practice day was difficult as we only really managed about 20 laps for the whole day.
Qualifying session and I wasn’t feeling much better. I managed to do 20 minutes of a 25 minute qualifying session and got the car onto 6th on the grid which was ok considering.
Race day and still feeling pretty ill.
I made a fairly good start and got up to 5th by the end of the first lap and was able to hold off Ray Rowan and Phil Austin for the first third of a lap until the sickness feeling started to come back.
First Ray Rowan came past me then Phil Austin came past.
I tried to ignore the sickness and push hard to stay with them but unfortunately I was feeling really bad and had to drive into the pit lane with about 3 laps to go and retire from the race.
I have since been testing for the next race which will be at Brands Hatch and getting in just under 100 laps and equalling a lap time on used tyres that would put me on the 2nd row of the grid.
So with June 15th looming I am in good shape and feeling quite confident of a good result on home ground.
